Callum that was a fantastic video - like such high quality editing and videography! I, like you, am quite bullish on the idea of individual brands and identities proliferating over the next few years. It's a sign of individuals gaining more sovereignty, and that's a good thing.
Do you think there is a conflict between the rise of potentially anonymous, untraceable cryptographic identities, and the "personal brands" that people are also making?
Thanks Zan! Really appreciate you watching it and I'm glad that you liked the editing/videography 😊
Self-sovereignty is going to be the next big shift in the Creator Economy (I believe). Too many people are losing out on income as a result of corporations and aggregator accounts stealing data, knowledge, and copyrighted materials.
To be honest, not really re: anon accounts. I think that we already have that issue with the current web2 economy, so I think adding a consistent digital signature to accounts actually increases the trustworthiness (or in the case of blockchain, trustlessness) that is accumulated.
Most of us have no idea who is actually behind the companies we buy products from on a regular basis, web3 at least enables consistency of source material.
I actually think that the ability to generate a consistent digital ID that is anon provides a huge benefit for people who have traditionally been marginalized as a result of their IRL identity. This way, people can operate in a way that their audience trusts them (if the trust is earned) while enabling people to choose how much of their identity to reveal to their audiences.
Of course, there are issues with anon people scamming others (but that's the same, if not worse in web2 systems). I think regardless of the level of anonymity, there is always going to be the concept of "buyer beware", to use judgment when dealing with entities online.
Yeah I think you're right - consistent anon digital id will definitely open some good doors, but we'll still need our wits about us. Thanks for sharing!
